NORTH SHORE
The North Shore Lullaby Project (NSLP) is a non-profit organization serving the coastal communities north of Boston.
LULLABY
Lullabies are comforting, soothing songs that have helped children fall asleep around the world for centuries. NSLP believes the entire lullaby experience, from creation to singing, laughing, and listening, offers around-the-clock benefits for all involved.
PROJECT
In addition to bringing The Lullaby Project to local families, NSLP has facilitated opportunities for researchers at the MIT Media Lab to further our understanding of the many benefits of creating and sharing lullabies. NSLP also partners with local agencies, organizations, and practices in hosting lullaby writing cohorts within their unique context.
composing
Parents and guardians working with Carnegie Hall-trained Teaching Artists write personal songs using conversations and tools such as a lullaby journal as starting points in the collaborative songwriting process. The resulting original lullaby is then recorded and shared with participants.
composing ourselves
Lullabies are not just good for babies. Music making builds resilience, shares affirmation, supports positive mental health, and so much more. NSLP is thrilled to be able to come alongside families in a beautiful, creative process that contributes to the well-being of everyone involved.
